Bali Escape 2022 Trip Highlights

June 3rd, we departed on our trip to Bali Indonesia ready for the adventure of a lifetime and Bali did not disappoint! Here is a quick overview of escape to Bali! Our trip consisted of staying in Ubud for the first half of the trip and Kuta for the second half. This provides us with views of the mountainside and the beach. The ability to see the zen and the fun that Bali has to offer.

Hotel Accommodations:

In Ubud we stayed at Elements by Westin, a gorgeous property centered around the greenery of Jalan Raya Andong just outside of the center of Ubud. This hotel provides the eco friendly feel but provides the modern amenities we love. In Kuta we stayed at Anvaya Resort and Spa right on the beach. This area is vastly different from Ubud. Right in the middle of things, you can walk out of the hotel and enjoy a number of bars and restaurants in either direction. The resort is a mix of serene elegance and 5 star quality and we will absolutely be coming back to this hotel next year!

The Food:

I believe if I’m going to be in another country I have to try their food. As much as possible I try to eat where the locals eat and I provide options that serve local cuisine. Throughout the trip our included/itinerary meals were a mix of balinese and “international” foods. Some of the restaurants we went to were Cerita Manisan, Copper Ubud and Tanah Lot. Check out the IG page to see a reel highlighting some of our delectable meals!

Tours & Activities:

Oh the places and things we got to see! Hinduism is the religion of Bali so temples are a very large part of Balinese culture and of course we saw several. The largest one was Gunung Temple. As you transcended the steps toward the temple, we were able to see different areas of small waterfalls and areas that were just gorgeous! As they say though what goes down the steps… must come back up! We saw two live productions of traditional Balinese plays. My favorite was the story of the Barong. Mostly memorable I have to say was the Bali Swings. I know that hearing the word swings can be scary, and several travelers went in thinking they were NOT going to swing but ended up leaving happy they gave it a shot!
I absolutely have to mention Jack Bali (Tour Guide) and Padang Padang (Driver) . They took care of us all week with whatever we needed and made the trip that much more enjoyable!

Bali Swing

Overall the trip was great, I learned a lot that I will use for future trips to Bali. My one key takeaway is that there is no way to see everything in one trip. To be honest one week or even two isn’t enough time. There are so many locations and so many of the things to see are so spread out it’s no wonder people continue to go back to Bali time and time again!
